The Hip Hop Community wrestles with trusting the Democratic process. There are too many elected officials who want our vote but do not advocate for our community. Amendments and ratifications, like ending the electoral college and requiring pre-clearance for states known to suppress votes, would restore voter trust. Representation and accountability are vital for a strong democracy. We need democracy, and voting rights reform is one of the tools in our toolbox that will push us closer to liberation.
The Democracy Reform Agenda
End the Filibuster in the U.S. Senate. The Filibuster as it is currently used does not reflect the will of the People.
Expand the United States Supreme Court to ensure it reflects the modern majority perspective.
Fulfill the obligations to the Indigenous Native populations to provide them representation in Congress.
Expand the U.S. House of Representatives so that every single seat has the same population and truly honor one person, one vote.
Ratification of a constitutional amendment to end the Electoral College allowing for the peoples votes to elect our President and Vice President.
Enact Independent Nationwide Redistricting Reform. We need Democracy and Voting Rights Reforms that are modernized.
Statehood to DC, Puerto Rico, and give the U.S. Virgin Islands, the American Samoa, Guam and the North Marianas Islands with the right to self-determination.

Full Restoration of Voting Rights to Returning Citizens
Enact legislation to make sure incarcerated Americans are counted at their last address not the place of their incarceration in the decennial census
Enact a Voting Rights Act that reinstates pre-clearance for states with a history of voter suppression
Consider Alternative methods of voting (rank choice, proportional voting, etc)
