With two PSC seats on the November 4 ballot and early voting underway, concerned Georgians will demand accountability over surging power bills

ATLANTA, GA. –  Georgians from across the state will be gathering in Atlanta next Tuesday, Oct. 21, through Thursday, Oct. 23, to demand accountability from the Public Service Commission (PSC) ahead of the November 4th election. Participants will speak out about Georgia Power’s costly energy expansion, rising power bills, and the need for affordable, clean energy. Impacted voters and advocates will be available to speak with the media on Tuesday and Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in front of the PSC building.

Each morning at 9:00 a.m., advocates will make statements during the PSC’s public comment window. On Tuesday, the day closes at 12:00 p.m. with a photo opportunity at the PSC entrance immediately following comments. Wednesday, October 22, following the morning testimony, the event will continue with a community gathering from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Grant Park (located at Park Avenue & Sydney Street). The mobilization wraps up on Thursday, October 23, with a final morning of public testimony.

This mobilization is happening ahead of a rare PSC election cycle. Following years of bill hikes, lawsuits, and public redistricting scandals, two PSC seats are on the ballot, with early voting running through Oct. 31 and election day on Nov. 4. All registered Georgians may vote in both races, regardless of district residence.

Interested parties can RSVP for the mobilization by contacting Paul Glaze.
