WASHINGTON, D.C. — October 17, 2025 — Hip Hop Caucus proudly honors Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr., President & CEO of Hip Hop Caucus, on his selection as the Griot Award (Education/Faith) recipient at The People’s Gala 2025, hosted by The People’s Justice Council. The celebration took place Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Atlanta Zoo in Atlanta, GA, where Rev. Yearwood was formally announced and invited on stage to accept the award during the evening program following a special honorees’ and sponsors’ gathering.

In its notification, delivered by Alliyah Evans, The People’s Justice Council affirmed that Rev. Yearwood’s “dedication to guiding and uplifting communities through knowledge and leadership makes [him] a true griot of justice.”

Reflecting on the recognition, Rev. Yearwood shared: “This honor belongs to the people who fight every day for clean air, safe water, and dignity.“As a wearer of many hats, my calling is to stand with our communities as we build power so we secure a healthier, safer, and more just world.”

Hip Hop Caucus extends gratitude to The People’s Justice Council for uplifting educators and faith leaders who advocate for and teach environmental and climate justice, and salutes all 2025 honorees.
