Hip Hop Caucus To Participate In Panel and Comedy Showcase At 2026 Hollywood Climate Summit

LOS ANGELES, CA — Hip Hop Caucus will participate in two signature programs during this year’s Hollywood Climate Summit. Now in its seventh year, the Hollywood Climate Summit is the flagship annual conference from Context Collaborative, a nonprofit that directs cultural attention to climate issues and leveling up how they resonate across the stories, platforms, and experiences people love. The Summit will consist of two days of programming, including interactive conversations, networking experiences, and workshops on June 3 – 4, across two iconic Los Angeles venues: the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills and The Ebell of Los Angeles.

On Thursday, June 4, 2026 at The Ebell of Los Angeles, Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr., Hip Hop Caucus President and CEO, will join a panel to discuss the groundbreaking Netflix documentary, The Plastic Detox. Along with Rev Yearwood, the panel will include Peyton List (Actor, Advocate), Josh Murphy (Co-Director, The Plastic Detox), and Dr. Jasmine McDonald (Associate Professor of Epidemiology, Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health). Sponsored by Minderoo Pictures, the interactive conversation will focus on the documentary and its key learnings and dive into the impact of plastic on the environment and our everyday lives.

“The plastic epidemic is not a ‘right’ or ‘left’ issue; it’s a ‘you’ issue, a ‘me’ issue, and quite plainly a global issue,” said Rev Yearwood. “I remain committed to discussing the impacts of plastics on our everyday lives, and I’m excited to be in conversation with the experts and creatives from The Plastic Detox who are continuing to sound the alarm on this global epidemic.”

Also on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at The Ebell of Los Angeles, Brittany Bell Surratt, Hip Hop Caucus Senior Director of Storytelling and Communications, will join a cadre of comedians for SCORCHED: Comedy Show. Sponsored by Hip Hop Caucus and Spike Center for Sustainability at CU Boulder, the interactive comedy, sketch, and variety show will close out the 2026 Hollywood Climate Summit with joy and laughter. Each comedian will focus on their set on storytelling that weaves climate and humor together to entertain and inform attendees. Surratt will join a host of comedians, writers, and actors including Reggie Watts (Comedian & Musician), Esteban Gast (Comedian), Rasheda Crockett (Actor, Comedian), Andrew Zuber (Magician, TV Writer), Brad Einstein (Comedian, Writer, Puppeteer), Chloe Hull, Koyote Manske, Liam Connelly, and Sam Nelson (CU Boulder Performers).

“Sometimes the best way to talk about serious issues is through laughter,” said Brittany Bell Surratt, Comedian and Hip Hop Caucus Senior Director of Storytelling & Communications. “Comedy helps make climate conversations more accessible by finding the humor in our shared experiences. If people can laugh together, they can learn together, too.”
