Advancing Reproductive Justice
Reproductive justice is a climate justice issue due to its detrimental effects on maternal health, access to reproductive services, and the ability to raise children in safe, healthy environments.

The end of January 2023 would have been the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, but the Supreme Court determined it was fair to take away women’s right to choose. The reality is – the Court’s decisions in Dobbs and West Virginia do not account for the intersectionality of the issues on which they are deciding. Its decisions on reproductive justice have devastating results for Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities –particularly birthing people.
Just as climate change is having a heavier impact on women of color, ending protections of reproductive rights will also have greater impact on women of color. Newer air pollution studies deepen decades of research connecting fossil fuel burning and fracking to thousands of struggling infants born too soon. Air pollution is also linked to harmful maternal health conditions like gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia.
We must fight to protect, defend, and advance reproductive justice for future generations.
