WASHINGTON — Today, Hip Hop Caucus’ Economic Justice, Justice Paid In Full Campaigns Director Stephone Coward II issued the following statement in response to recent developments threatening critical programs that support economic equity:
“Hip Hop Caucus stands firm in defending programs like the CDFI Fund, Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF), and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) — essential tools in the fight for economic justice in Black and brown communities.
The CDFI Fund expands access to affordable credit. The GGRF supports clean energy and green jobs in underserved areas. The CFPB protects consumers from predatory financial practices. Undermining these programs ignores the will of the people and deepens systemic inequities. Economic uncertainties and political shifts must not be used as excuses to undermine these vital resources. We need bold leadership that prioritizes people over profit and ensures these programs continue to serve as lifelines for those most in need.
Through our Justice Paid In Full platform, we’ll continue to advocate for bold investments in climate, economic, and racial justice. We call on policymakers to protect these resources and stand with frontline communities.”
