The Biden-Harris Administration created the Justice40 Initiative to confront and address decades of underinvestment in disadvantaged communities. The initiative will bring resources to communities most impacted by climate change, pollution, and environmental hazards.
But let’s be clear: 40% of climate investment of Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities is the floor. Our communities are first and worst impacted by the climate crisis. Our communities should be the first to receive investments that improve our air quality, reduce carbon emissions, and ensure clean water.
The Biden-Harris administration, against the backdrop of economic and climate crises, must fulfill its campaign promise: Ensure that at least 40% of federal climate investments go directly to frontline communities most affected by poverty and pollution.
