This year, Hip Hop Caucus was nominated for two NAACP Image Awards for Freshwater, a short documentary by filmmaker dream hampton, and Official Ignorance: The Death in Custody Podcast. We invite you to learn about and watch both projects during the event.

Home to the world’s largest naval base, Norfolk, Virginia is sinking. It is more vulnerable than even New Orleans. The insufficient flood walls end where a housing project and a historic African American community begins. Our latest film, Underwater Projects, mixes animation with live action to profile the area’s local leaders as they rush to create climate resilience plans to face an uncertain future. Featuring Wanda Sykes and co-directed by Liz Havstad and dream hampton. The event will include a talkback with the co-directors. Learn more about Underwater Projects.
