Aura Vasquez is the Senior Director of Campaigns & Advocacy at Hip Hop Caucus and an Afro-Latina Colombian immigrant, community organizer, and lifelong environmental justice advocate based in Los Angeles. Over two decades of movement work, she has led landmark campaigns to make LA coal-free, fought alongside the Standing Rock Sioux, served as the first immigrant commissioner on the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and trained hundreds of candidates and organizers across the country. Aura believes in building power with communities — not just for them — and brings that conviction to every campaign she runs. When she’s not strategizing, you can find her in a dance class, working on her performance skills, and reminding herself that joy is also part of the movement.
